Where do I find the rubric?

In the forum, you will see a three-dot icon at the top right-hand corner. Click the icon, and then click Show Rubric.

Participating in the forum

Once you are in the forum, you can contribute in two ways. In the following image, you will see a box with an arrow and the word Reply on the lower part of the instructions.

Clicking Reply will activate the text editor which will let you write your forum entry in the box.

Also, if you need to upload a document to the forum, you may do so by clicking the Attach button located on the bottom left of the text editor.

After clicking Attach, the Choose File [1] button will activate.
A small pop-up window will open that will allow you to choose the file that you wish to add to the forum. Click Open [2]; appears as OK in some operating systems.

Once the attachment is uploaded, its name will appear on the right side of the Choose File or Browse button. Please note that you can only attach one (1) file per entry.

If you are satisfied with your answer and with the attached file, click the Post Reply button. If you are not satisfied with the document you have attached, click the red symbol with the white X to delete the document selected. If you decide to cancel the entry that includes the selected document, click the Cancel button.

Once you have published your entry, you will see your post and your classmates’. To react to a classmate’s post in the forum, click Reply in their entry.

You will see your reply at the bottom of your classmate’s post.

“Like” Option in Forum Discussions

Canvas has the option to include the Like icon when setting up discussion forums. This means that if the forum is set up with this option, users will see the “Like” icon in each reply in the forum. The gray icon indicates that participants have not yet clicked “Like” for that post, while the blue icon means that someone has liked that post.
